Ami's rescue story:
As rescue dogs, we all have different stories; some sad, some happy, some pretty amazing.  My story is all three.  I found myself in a shelter, curled into a ball on a hard concrete floor with not so much as a towel for protection or comfort.  No one seemed to want me and I was so scared.  Then one day, my foster mom came in, scooped me up and discovered my secret; I was very pregnant.  A few days later I delivered my puppies prematurely, but none were able to survive.  I then became very ill. I quit eating and drinking, but I never lost my capacity to love and thank my foster mom for trying to help me, so I always gave her a tail wag whenever she came near.  I finally became so ill and weak and was suffering so much with what was thought to possibly be distemper, the painful decision was made to end my suffering.  Then with many tears, kisses, and prayers, my foster parents said goodbye to me. At the vet's office, the vet decided on his own to continue to try to find out what was wrong with me and to cure me if at all possible.  And so, many weeks later, my foster mom was called into her vet's office and was surprised, to say the least, with a happy, healthy me!  My foster mom was worried I wouldn't remember her, but I did, and I covered her in kisses.  So, needless to say, I have been very sad, very happy, and the fact that I am here at all is very amazing.  And now that I am happy and healthy again, I am ready to spread my love and happiness to you in my new forever home, never forgetting what a lucky dog I am just to be alive.
