Meet Hank the Hunky doxie!!!  Surrendered by his owners to the animal shelter because they had no time for him, he had heartworms, but that is all over now.  He has come thru treatment with flying colors and is ready for his new home....and he is so happy to have a chance at a REAL one where he will get all the love and attention he deserves.  He is a stunning example of our favorite breed.  His inky black fur is so soft and velvety and he is a fine figure of a Doxie to behold!  His beautiful deep eyes gaze right into your heart.  They also gaze at the leashes hanging on the wall as walks are among his favorite things!!  He is a friendly, but somewhat shy fellow.....loud noises or yelling makes him sad.  He does pretty well in his crate but most enjoys lying on his favorite spot on the couch or snuggling in the big bed at night.  Wet, damp outdoors is not his favorite place to be, but on a nice cool evening, if you go sit on the porch with him he will lie in the grass and watch the clouds go by.  A nice chewy rawhide is always a hit and can perk him right up anytime!  He so wants to trust and be petted but he was not given that in his prior life so it can take a few days for him to get used to new people and seek out affection.  After a few weeks settling in, he is happy and tail waggy and shows more interest in toys.  He gets along well with other dogs but he might also do well as an only dog, especially for a retired owner.   He is a rather quiet, calm boy as well....so he might enjoy an apartment or a home with empty nesters.  If you have room in your quiet home and heart for this handsome boy, he is ready and waiting!!!
