Description: Update 10/16/14: Lexie Marie has gained a whole pound! She is now at 8.2 pounds. As she is eating more and feeling better, her activity level is zooming through the roof. At her first visit the vet estimated her age between 3-5 years. But, the more energy she has and the more comfortable she feels in her foster home, the more youthful she behaves.
This little bundle of love gets along well with the other dogs in the household. She is very playful and likes to engage in all the backyard games. Yet when there is lap time to be had, she is right there, ready to snuggle. However, she is the traffic police of the household. When morning comes and crates are opened, she is there right in front, barking her instructions until everyone has moved on outside to take care of their business. As is usually the case with tiny dachshunds, she has taken over as "Large and In Charge" in the household.
This tiny dynamo has lots of love to give! She is just waiting to move on to her next household that she can run with her usual precision!
Lexie Marie's human mom died several months ago, and her dad tried but just did not think he was giving her the care she deserved. When his work schedule changed to include lots of travel he decided she would be happier in a new home with more attention. She is spayed and UTD on shots. She will be ready for her next new adventure as soon as she has a dental and puts on a few pounds.
She is timid right now, but she has been through lots of changes lately. She is clingy as a result, but is calm and relaxed when she is snuggled in her foster's arms or on her lap. This girl is so tiny--her ribs are showing at 7.2 pounds, but when she is at a healthy weight she will still be petite and not over 10 pounds.
This sweetie is ready for some stability and a steady supply of love. Not tested with kids or cats. She was kenneled with other dogs in the shelter but no other observation has been made in that regard.
