Lucas’ foster mom will tell anyone that in 11 years of fostering for All Texas Dachshund Rescue she has never fostered a pup who was as agreeable, well behaved, well minded or perfectly house trained as this boy!  This easy-going laid-back little guy is a ready-made dream to share life with, also being quiet, sweet and affectionate while always enjoying the company of his foster mom and foster sisters.  He loves nothing better than to lie next to you snuggling but will immediately jump down and find someplace else to lie should you decide to enjoy dinner or a snack in front of the TV.  He is the perfect canine citizen and companion that everyone looks for in a pup and he’s oh so easy to love…

Lucas would love sharing life with a person who enjoys taking walks with him or even doing some reasonable hiking!  He strides athletically when on a leash and has good endurance, enjoying the walk instead of tiring and demanding to be picked up and carried. However, he is also content staying in with his family to relax.

Having been on the streets for a while, Lucas came to ATDR with an injured eye.  He now has no sight in that eye and it was determined that a drop of a specific eye drop in that eye morning and night will keep the eye lubricated, comfortable and otherwise healthy! This is very little trouble to ask of someone who loves their best friend!  He’s fully vetted, healthy and ready to be adopted by the lucky home who will add him as a family member!  If this is you, please submit an application for him to consider!  He is an excellent judge of character and will quickly become the most favorite pet that you've ever had!
