Special Needs: Update on Merri—her bloodwork came back negative for Cushing’s, but the vet is still very suspicious that she has it bc her symptoms are so classic—increased thirst and appetite plus the little adenoma on her anus is very common with Cushing’s. They sent us a month of Vetoryl and it seems to really be helping her thirst (she’s been on it about 10 days now) and she has had less accidents in the house. In classic dachshund style, she still has a hearty appetite! :) If anything new arrises, I’ll let you know.
Merriwether is a frisky black and tan girl! She’s very gentle and dainty, great on a leash and loves going for walks! Watch her walk and get a kick out of how cute she is with her tiny little legs trotting along in front of you! She’s a typical Dachshund and doesn’t like to go in high grass or get her belly wet, but she will after being given encouragement. If you walk her, begin with a brief walk and always avoid stairs. She likes attention and answers to either Merriwether or Baby. She enjoys treats and she barks when you have food and she wants it! She eats Nulo Senior Dog Food. She would love a warm lap to snuggle in all day long! She likes her naps and just wants some love! She’s a sweet girl, crate trained and house trained. She would be a welcome addition to anyone's home. Even though she can get along with other dogs, a single dog home is recommended for her. Merri was diagnosed with a mild case of Cushings and has been on monthly medication for the last few months and is doing very well. Stay tuned for more on her health issues.
If you’re looking for a special girl to share your life and comfortable chair with, please submit an adoption application for sweet Merriwether. She's waiting and willing to fill your heart and with warmth and love.
