Meet Smokey! He and his sister Peanut were surrendered to ATDR when both their parents had been deployed to Kuwait. Sadly this precious pair was left with a family member who decided he would no longer be willing to care for them and insisted on them being rehomed. After brief stays with various friends and other family members that didn’t work out, their mom took an emergency leave and flew home to the States to arrange to place them. Their heartbroken mom reached out to ATDR and of course we couldn’t say no to this bonded pair who have been together since tiny pups and obviously the only security they feel right now is being with each other.
Smokey and his sister would like to be adopted together. Peanut’s profile can be seen on this site also. She was just released from Safari Veterinary Care Center receiving needed treatments for IVDD. With hoped for and expected good results, Peanut should improve soon and be ready for the loving forever home she and Smokey are in need of and deserve. Since Peanut is being treated for a back issue, it is felt that they shouldn’t go to a home with smaller children. Older, gentle, responsible kids would probably be fine or a home with a loving adult or couple would be perfect. These babies have been bounced around through no fault of their own and deserve the best possible home out there where they’ll be cherished and never left homeless again.
If you’re looking for a sweet bonded pair, please submit an adoption application for Smokey and Peanut. They would love you more than you could ever imagine.
