Phoenix – (def.) a sacred, mythical bird that arises from its own ashes, reborn anew to live again. This is the reason this lovely little spirit is named Phoenix. Phoenix was reborn after being thrown over a cliff from a car. Fortunately, some teenagers saw it happen and they gathered up Phoenix and took him to a local vet where he remained recovering for two weeks. A call went out to have him moved to a foster home and ATDR answered that call. Needless to say, it took Phoenix a little time to recover his trust of humans; but he is now there! He really enjoys playing with his foster siblings. Phoenix isn’t entirely Doxie, he has a little mixture in there that just makes him more interesting. He is a double dapple, with limited vision and hearing; but he certainly doesn’t let that slow him down during playtime. Hopefully, there is someone out there who can appreciate his gentle nature. His recovery was nothing less than his namesake; he arose from the ashes, was reborn anew, and now he soars! Phoenix loves sitting on his foster mom's lap and when she isn't home, he sits on his foster dad's lap. There are two places he sleeps at night...one is on his mom's pillow, above her head or right next to her and the other is sometimes under the covers! He loves getting head rubs and kisses! He’s such a good boy! Phoenix will not be good around young kids.
Phoenix likes to go on walks in the neighborhood. He’s really good on a leash. Despite his deafness and tunnel vision, he really enjoys being out and his tail wags nonstop! He also loves playing chase in the back yard with his person or his foster Doxie brothers and sisters!
Phoenix has the most calm spirit and loving heart. If you’re looking for a special guy to love and share life with, please submit an adoption application for Phoenix! He’s so deserving of the best home possible!
