Description:
This is Butch… Poor precious fellow found himself in a West Texas animal shelter in very sad condition and ATDR’s hearts went out to him. He’s now being well cared for in a loving foster home where his foster parents report that he soooo sweet and is the most well-mannered boy they have ever seen! He LOVES to snuggle and, having quickly worked his way into the big bed, is a total bed hog! He is trained to pee pads and he also goes outside. He gets along with all the dogs in the house and is fine with the cat! He’s a quiet fellow and never barks. A more perfect canine citizen never existed…
Butch came into rescue with a lot of health issues that are currently being addressed. His right lower eye lid has been ripped off. He has hypothyroidism. Probably has arthritis as he walks a little stiff in the back left. His first vet visit showed:
1) hypothyroid- his level is so low the machine could not read it. So we start on medication. Hopefully once his level increases he will lose some weight and his skin/hair will improve.
2) the cause of his right eye infection....the lower eyelid has been ripped off!! The poor little fella! He will be on eye drops for life to help keep that eye clean and hopefully free of infection.
3) he is approximately 10-12 years old
4) teeth are in horrible condition. Once we get the other issues fixed we will deal with his teeth.
No animal deserves that.
Thank goodness Butch is now receiving the veterinary care he has been needing so desperately. Veterinary care like this is very costly, and ATDR would never be able to go the distance for Butch and other dogs in need without donations from kind hearted animal loving people like you. If you would like to help ATDR help Butch, please go to the DONATE button on the side of this page or send a check or money order to ATDR, P. O. Box 841336, Pearland, TX 77584 indicating it’s for Butch. No amount could ever be too small or too large and anything would be greatly appreciated…
We are hopeful that in time that Butch’s health will be restored to a level where he will be ready for a forever home. At that time, he will be reviewing adoption applications…he has a long road ahead of him until then...
