Description:

Max is a beautiful, sweet boy who came to us after his elderly dad passed away and one of our vets called to ask if we could help. Of course we said yes. He was a well loved and well cared for boy and his dad was his best pal so his world has been turned upside down. He is doing well in his foster home and warmed up to his foster mom very quickly. Max ADORES toys and is an expert at fetch. He could play with them all day if your arm would last that long. His former home had no yard so he has always played inside and loves walks but is getting used to exploring a safely fenced backyard. Although he prefers his foster mom to be outside with him anytime he goes out, he has begun to use the doggie door to go outside with encouragement. He can be a barker and should not live in an apartment or condo with attached walls. He is housetrained and has not had one single accident inside or in his crate. He was used to spending time in a playpen when needed, but he behaves very nicely in his crate at night. He loves to snuggle and would probably love to be in the big bed at night.

Max would do best as an only dog since he has never lived with or been exposed to other dogs at all until now. He is really not sure what they are and is worried and unsure around them. Because of this Max, would clearly prefer to be an only dog so he can enjoy his home without apprehension.

Max sometimes is nervous with strangers and will need to go to a home with someone who will be able to handle this nervous insecurity. He would be a great friend for a single owner or for a couple with no children or with older kids. We do not know how he is with young children since he has never been around them and also since he is so active and toy motivated, he would do best if any children were respectful of him and over 12.

Max is a really great boy and we know his dad would want us to find him a really special home to spend the rest of his life in with an experienced owner who can direct his energy and personality. He is up to date on his shots and will have a dental in a few weeks…then he will be ready to go to his new forever home.

If you have it in your heart to help Max feel happy and secure again, please submit an adoption application for him. He’s a wonderful boy and will respond quickly to love and kindness…
