This handsome little Chiweenie boy is Skinny. His owner moved off and left them at the old house. Another family member found out and called ATDR. We jumped at the chance to help these two neglected babies. Apparently, poor little Skinny was banished to the back yard 24/7 where he also spent the arctic freeze that hit Texas, but brother Rodger was allowed to live in the house! Our hearts cried at the thought of this…Skinny will never be neglected again. Rodger has already been adopted, but Skinny is warm and safe in a comfortable ATDR foster home where he’ll be loved and cared for while we address all his needs and then find a loving forever home for him also. 

Skinny is sweet but timid, but he’ll come around with a little time and trust building. His whole world was turned upside down within 36 hrs. He nor Rodger were treated very kindly by their previous owner, and his health was definitely neglected. ATDR is working on bringing him up to speed. His foster mom reports that he is a funny little dude with the cutest under bite (see third photo below). He’s already warmed up a lot and has pretty much come out of his shell. He's going to be a great little companion for some kind person.  

4.30.21 His foster mom reports: Skinny's personality has blossomed after being shown love and kindness for probably the first time in his life. He's a really good dog, a sweet little dude. He's crate trained and doesn't fuss in the crate at all. He's quiet most of the time so he could be good in a living situation with shared walls, e.g. apt, condo, townhouse, or even an RV. Skinny likes to be near his person but he doesn't always need to be in a lap. Skinny gets along fine with other small dogs but also seems content as an only dog. He has not been introduced to large dogs or cats while in his foster home. Skinny is an easy going, low maintenance boy. He has been a pleasure to have in his foster home. This guy's a little gem. 

Skinny just finished heartworm treatment so should be ready to go ASAP! He feels great and is anxious for his next adventure.
