Description:

Meet Coco!  ATDR had a middle-of-the-night emergency rescue call after this precious momma was posted on Facebook by someone looking to “dump” her before she had her puppies. At 10:30 pm, two fabulous kind people drove from Cleveland, Texas to Conroe to get her. When they arrived, she was already in labor and struggling. Not only was she ready to deliver the eight puppies she was carrying, but she also was suffering with a prolapsed uterus. ATDR is so glad they reached out for help and of course we immediately agreed and jumped onboard to help save Coco! Her saintly saviors then drove her another hour, all the way down to the Memorial area of Houston to get her to VERGI 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care Pet Hospital. Her C-section was completed at 3:00 am and at that time, four of her eight puppies had survived. By late this afternoon, sadly only three puppies remained, then equally sad the next day another pup was gone. Momma tried nursing the tiny pups, but the pups were too small to latch on. VERGI commenced to tube feed these babies at that time for three days and nights and since then, they’ve been able to latch onto tiny bottles…

UPDATE:  Coco lost all of her puppies and was spayed during the C-Section and unfortunately also tested positive for heartworms!

It will be difficult to cover thousands of dollars in cost for this necessary emergency surgery and care for Coco and her pups for several days and nights at VERGI, especially since we have been unable to attend any fundraising events due to COVID in the past year. If you could possibly help us help Coco, please know that no donation is too small and every single dollar counts! Please go to the DONATE button to the left of this page or mail a check or money order to All Texas Dachshund Rescue - Attn: Coco - P.O. Box 841336 - Pearland, Texas 77584.

6.9.21 UPDATE: After all that Coco has been through, this sweet girl is fully vetted, recovered and ready for a forever home of her own! No pup could be more deserving of the most loving home out there! If you're looking for a precious companion and best friend to share all good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for Coco! She would love you more than you could ever imagine!
