Description:

Meet Clyde! Sadly, this sweet boy lost his home because his parents could no longer give him the care and vetting he deserved to have. ATDR welcomed Clyde and he’s now enjoying the comforts of a loving foster home.

His foster parents report that Clyde is a joy! He’s generally an easy-going boy who loves a good meal, as all good dachshunds do. He’s not overly clingy but does love some good lap sessions, and he loves to follow his foster dad from room to room to see what he’s up to. We were told by his previous owners that he is very afraid of thunderstorms; however, we had a big one after he came here, and he was absolutely fine and barely came out from under his blanket. We were told he is not completely housebroken, but he actually had only one accident in the first week he was here. He’s very willing to go outside and potty on a regular schedule…no trouble at all. We were told he may not be good with young children and doesn’t like them getting in his face, so Clyde should only go to an adult home. His original owners said he can’t go for walks because he ends up in pain in his back legs or possibly lower back. They stated they had these issues looked at and that there appeared to be nothing wrong according to the vets. It could probably be due to his weight since he does waddle a bit and needs to lose a few. Clyde is definitely enjoying a good spa diet in his foster home and his weight should be watched and worked on in a forever home.

He gets along just fine with his other two male dachshund foster siblings, one who is a senior and one who is just two and LOVES to play. Clyde is not super playful, but he has done some zoomies with the younger one and does like to play with balls. He’s not terribly barky for a dachshund, but he does bark at sounds, especially new ones. He also barks when people come to the door, the usual stuff. He prefers to sleep in his wire crate at night, with his pillow and blanket. Clyde is overall just a sweet, happy boy who will make someone a beautiful, calm companion.

If you have no children for Clyde to deal with and you’re looking for a loving pup to share the good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for this precious boy. He’ll be the best little friend you could ever hope to find.
