Description:

Say hello to Chip! This handsome Chiweenie boy was rescued by family members of someone who didn’t treat him right. Thank goodness for the kindness of people who care. ATDR saw a post they made seeking a new home for Chip and quickly stepped in and vowed to find him the best home out there.

Chip is now enjoying the comforts of a loving foster home where his foster mom reports that he is house trained, good with other dogs and even kitty cats! He’s shown no interest in toys or playing with a ball. He LOVES long walks and is well behaved and confident on the leash. A must is to have a poop bag handy, because Chip was used to living in an apartment and having to do his business while on a walk. He’s reported to be crate trained; however, he’s done fine baby-gated in the kitchen when no one is at home. He does startle easily with loud noises and sudden movements which is not unusual for a dog who’s been mistreated in the past. Even though no aggression has been seen out of Chip, he should not go to a home with younger children. He’ll do great with a person or family, perhaps with quiet older kids, who will be respectful of him and give him a little time to settle in. After a warming up period, he will be a loyal companion for life. All in all, due to the bad experience in his former life, Chip requires a bit of patience before he’s willing to give his trust…when he does, he blossoms into a sweet loving pup.

Chip's foster mom says that Chip deserves someone who thinks he's the BEST dog in the world! He would be perfect for someone who would like a constant companion...he loves affection and attention. He likes his foster mom, but he absolutely LOVES his foster dad. Even though he gets along well with other dogs, he'd be perfectly happy being the only dog in the home.

If you have a home with no younger children for Chip to have to deal with and are looking for a devoted companion and best friend, please submit an adoption application for Chip. He’s a good boy so deserving of a wonderful home where he’ll feel loved and safe…
