Tucker sends a big hello to everyone out there! His foster mom reports that he’s a happy boy; a total love bug. He enjoys cuddling and burrowing under the blankets. He's also a very good boy, smart and a fast learner! Being young, he's still got some puppy energy and needs more attention toward his canine manners. He seems to enjoy disemboweling plush toys best but he'll go after the squeaker toys too. Tucker is a TOTAL dachshund, curious and busy! He has a big, loud bark and let all of his foster mom’s neighbors know “there's a new sheriff in town" when he first came to stay! For this reason, Tucker would probably not be a good fit for apartment/condo life! A securely fenced yard would be a place for him to spend energy.
His foster mom says she enjoys having Tucker around. He's young, fun, playful and sassy! He gets along just fine with the senior Chiweenie foster in the house. However, he was NOT okay with her friend’s 40 lb female Maltese mix initially. Tucker, thinking he was the big dog in this mix, was being aggressive with her. The hoomans had to let him know they weren't gonna have him going after this sweet girl. Tucker responds favorably to a strong pack leader (foster mom in this case) and is doing okay with the big dog now!
Tucker is crate trained and house trained. He's basically gift wrapped and ready to go to a loving forever home with an energetic person experienced with honing on puppy manners. He's a dream dachshund, seriously, and is going to be a wonderful best friend and companion to a lucky someone. If you would like for that to be you, please submit an adoption application for Tucker! He’s ready and anxious to explore this exciting thing called life with you!
