Description: Mocha is a 14 lb dachshund mixed with probably a bit of chihuahua. She was rescued from a shelter and no one could tell us what happened to cause the abrasions on her back. Our vet says it was some kind of scraping wound that was left untreated, then turned into a staph infection. She is the sweetest little thing and her tail wags constantly, in spite of the discomfort she must be feeling. When they were cleaning her wounds, the vet tech and Mocha's foster mom both got tears in their eyes because Mocha just laid there patiently as if she knew it had to be done. This little girl has heart and is guaranteed to touch anyone who meets her. The vet has her on antibiotics and says it'll be about 30 days before her back is completely healed. In the meantime she's doing great in her foster home. So far not one accident in the house so she appears to be house trained, and she gets along great with all the other dogs. Mocha is a happy little girl who will be ready for her forever home in just a few weeks.
Update August 6, 2007: Mocha's back is healed and the hair is growing back in a bit of a unique pattern. Her foster mom says it resembles a maple leaf... her new nickname is the Canadian Chiweenie! One thing we've learned is that Mocha LOVES children of all ages! She gets along great with other dogs, but we think she'd do just fine as an only dog too. Mocha is a happy, fun little dog who's just waiting to hear from you!
