Duke is waiting patiently for his forever home. He is a loving, playful standard boy with excellent house manners. He is perfectly housetrained, and he is crate trained as well. He knows when it is mealtime, wonderful things happen in the crate, so he hops right in to eat. He loves to snuggle in the big bed but he will also sleep the night through in his crate without complaint.
Duke's favorite activity is playing chase. Every morning he gets his excercise by chasing a St. Bernard around the yard following a figure-8 path. He also loves to chase his dachshund foster brothers. When he is in the house he will wrestle one of them--they take over the Saint's bed and roll around, play-growl, and pounce until one of them gets tired. Play sessions are exciting but gentle. He is so gentle he even took a litter of puppies under his wing and taught them all the finer points of playing chase. So--obviously, he will do best in a home where he has a playful sibling with a similar energy level. He does not care if the playmate is large or small, as long as they love to run and wrestle.
Duke loves people, and he loves to go for walks and visit Petsmart and Lowe's so he can greet his fans and meet new folks. He is very outgoing but has very good manners when meeting new friends. He walks well on a leash, and he does not have any bad habits like jumping on you when you say "Hello."
If you are looking for a playful, energetic, buddy who loves people, dogs, kids, and cats--Duke is your man.
