Cricket's mom passed away from cancer and although a friend promised to find her a good home, Cricket ended up at a kill shelter. Due to her age, she would have never been adopted. It was lucky for her that ATDR found out about her and took her in. She is the sweetest old girl you could ever meet. She loves people and gets along great with other dogs. She is heartworm negative and on preventative. Cricket is a 13 year old, grossly over weight, red, long haired dachshund who should weigh at the most 15 lbs. She weighed 27 lbs when we got her and has already lost 2 lbs. Her lab work was normal so there is no reason for her to be overweight but over eating.
