Description: Meet Lady Sophie! This precious little girl was rescued from a puppy mill breeder in East Texas by a good Samaritan. The lady then contacted ATDR to see if we could help. Sophie is a very shy and timid, black and tan, piebald dachshund. She is about 3 years old and weighs 8 pounds. She has obviously had no socialization, She is afraid of loud noises, barks at things and people she is unsure of and rarely makes eye contact. BUT, this wonderful little girl is as sweet as the day is long. All she wants is to be loved. She is dainty and petite and has the cutest little grumble when she is happy, like she is trying to talk to you. Sophie attaches quickly to anyone that will give her attention. Once she realizes you are not going to hurt her she wants to be next to you all the time. Her foster mom is working with her on house and crate training. Sweet little Sophie will need an experienced Dachshund lover, that has lots of time and patience to spend with this beautiful girl. She will do best in a home with a yard and a secure fence. She does ok with the other doxies in the foster home, but she does not know how to play with them or toys. Children are not recommend because their fast movements will mostly likely scare her. This pretty girl likes to be outside. She loves to roll in the grass and lay in the sunshine as long as human is with her. She sleeps all night in her crate as long as her foster mom and/or dad are near by. In short, this precious little girl has had a very rough start in life and needs extra TLC to make up for all the neglect she has suffered in her short life. If you have the time and patience and can give her the life long, loving home she deserves, please fill out an application she is waiting for you! Sophie is spayed, current on vaccination, on heartworm prevention and microchipped.
