Description:

Handsome Comet is a what we call a Doxidor…a Dachshund/Labrador mix, two of the most adorable and enjoyable breeds in the world! Comet’s parents sadly had no time for him, wanting to spend their time traveling and enjoying retirement. At times Comet would be crated for long periods of time during their travels and then their son’s family stepped up to have Comet visit their home when they would go off exploring. Having babies of their own, the son’s family didn’t feel they could keep another one permanently, so Comet was surrendered to ATDR.

Comet is bigger than a Dachshund and smaller than a Labrador, weighing in at about 30-35 pounds. He’s neutered, up-to-date on vetting, completely house-trained, kennel trained and in good health. You can tell that Comet is a native Texan by the fact that his front legs are a little bit bowed, but it doesn’t stop this little Cowboy from being one of the cutest guys you’ll ever meet!

Comet is not always as pleasantly receptive to men as he is women and is not always good with other pets. Comet does, however, enjoy live chickens on his menu so should go to a home where the only chicken available is bought at Colonel Sanders! In sum, Comet would probably do best in a home with a female as his person and no other pets. He’s a fun guy otherwise and life with Comet would never be dull! He will make the right person a loving pet and is currently accepting and reviewing adoption applications!
