Description:
Sweet Sully is a longhaired boy who was picked up by Animal Control as a stray and taken to an animal shelter. It was all too clear that poor Sully had been on the streets for a very long time. This little one’s coat was so matted and dirty he had a severe flea infestation. He was seriously emaciated, dehydrated and malnourished with badly overgrown nails and weighing in at just over 13 pounds until the shelter vet was forced to completely shave him, removing about 1.5 pounds of hair.
ATDR received a call from the shelter in the midst of severe rains and flooding conditions and immediately jumped into action to rescue this poor baby. A volunteer was able to get to the shelter and transport him to one of our trusted animal hospitals. He was able to eat a small portion of food and spent the night resting there, being given the comfort of a soft little bed, blankets and a doggie heater. We heard from our veterinarian that he did okay through the night. The next day he underwent an extensive medical exam and testing. Many prayers have been said for Sully to have favorable results. We currently know that he’s going to have to undergo some extensive dental work, as his teeth are in very poor shape. His blood work came back just ok and he's anemic. He's on meds and prescription food. He will be eating 1 1/2 cups 3 times a day!
Sully was picked up from the vet and is resting comfortably in his new foster home where he’ll be loved and cared for by a kind, experienced foster mom. She already reports that after all the suffering this pup has been through he's just the sweetest, most appreciative thing! Thank you to those who have donated much needed funds and prayed for him. Without the help of the animal loving community he would have been euthanized. It’s truly a miracle that he's not in organ failure. He has a long road to recovery but this guy has a will to survive!
Sully won't be ready for his new home for a while, BUT HE HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING!!! He has been promised that ATDR and friends will do everything humanly possible to get him back to much better health and he will NEVER be in this kind of condition again. We are asking friends and family worldwide, to continue praying for him and his veterinary team! We want nothing but the best for this precious baby!
ATDR would never be able to save Sully and pups like him without the help of caring generous people like yourselves. We are seeking donations to pay for Sully’s ongoing care that will extend over a longer period of time than many of our pups in need. Please go to the donation button on the front page of this site if you can spare any amount…nothing is too small and any and everything will be greatly appreciated.
Check back here periodically for updates on Sully as he travels on his journey to better health.
